“I grew up as ah real good girl, always home don go nowhere, ah soon as I was introduced to Carnival dey say I loose…get loose!”

I don’t know about you guys but I am ready to wuk, palance, and follow de big truck all over de place for this year’s Bermuda Heroes Weekend! Last year’s event was a great success with the opening on Front Street, J’ouvert that morning, the Parade of Bands that afternoon and the Pans in the Park/ Raft Up right after. Nuff music, costumes and comradery of Soca Junkies from all across the island!

This year promises to be no different with more events, more beautiful costumes, bigger trucks and just a better time all around. The events are selling out fast so I hope you guys got ya tickets and ya costumes ready for de rooooaaadd!

Based on their website http://www.bermudaheroesweekend.com/ the lineup is as follows:

The FIRST EVER Kiddie Carnival that just passed on June 4th that saw the parade of mini Soca Junkies parading to Victoria Park. The event saw two major bands Passion Bermuda and Nova Mas providing the little ones with their gorgeous costumes with dancing, fun castles, and tons of other activities for Primary aged kids.

Five Star Friday at the National Sports Centre this Friday, June 17th! Gates open at 6pm with major artists coming out to mash up de stage well into the wee hours.

Glow J’ouvert starting at Saturday 3am right up until morning light at 8am at the Softball Stadium at Bernard’s Park! Definitely a way to wake everyone up and keep you guys hyped for the Parade of Bands later that day.

Now afta you take ya nap and wash up from J’ouvert, get ready to get dolled up and head down St. David’s for the Parade of Bands starting at 2pm. Last year saw just about anyone behind the trucks but this year will be run a little different. Spectator passes will be on sale for $10 with children under 12 getting in free but the only ones able to wuk behind de trucks will be those who have signed up and hopefully you guys did!

Sunday takes it back to Victoria Park for what may be a bit more mellow for the veteran Soca Junkies with Pans in the Park starting at 3pm. The event brings out local and international pan artists to perform for the crowd and give everyone another option to enjoy the weekend.

And for all you water rats out there we have the Raft Up just outside of Morgan’s Point. Numerous boats, jet skis, etc. will be out in full force on the water to continue the celebrations and wrap up yet another eventful and successful Bermuda Heroes Weekend.

I hope you guys enjoy your weekend. Have fun! Be safe!
