Fantastic Food Finds for Under $12!

By Patrice Phillips  | PinkSandBermuda

I recently scoured around Hamilton to find some interesting food products, as well as pick up a few of my favourite items to introduce PinkSand readers to. To make sure I didn’t go overboard (which happens with me and food sometimes!), I set my limit to $12 per product (although I actually aimed for $10!).

Here’s what I found.

  1. Alex & Pete’s Hibiscus Sorbet

….say what? There was no WAY I could have left the store without picking this up because I was so curious to see what this looked and tasted like. A flower, perhaps? I couldn’t wait to get home….

This sorbet BLEW my mind.

The flavor is uniquely delicious. It reminds me of sorrel – a traditional Caribbean drink that my father used to make. There’s no way to describe this flavor with words, but please place this item at the top of your grocery list next time. Two thumbs up!

2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Strawberry Shortcake Popcorn Seasoning

Seems cringe worthy, yes? Not your typical popcorn seasoning, but why not swap your everyday popcorn for something a little more adventurous! The dusty tops suggest that perhaps people aren’t lining up for cookie or cake-flavored popcorn, but totally worth a try!

Price: $5.95 each

Where to buy: Brown & Co Bookmart

3. Toast for Cheese

With apricots, pistachios and sunflower seeds, this is an easy winner at a party with friends or just a party for 1 when those same old cheese and crackers gig gets a little boring. On top of this delicious medley of ingredients, the packaging provides suggestions on which cheeses to pair it with. Talk about a little extra touch to ensure your experience with this product is nothing but the best! They’re actually yummy and wholesome enough to simply enjoy on their own. What a TREAT.

4. Pro Bar Bolt Organic Energy Chews

These really put my coffee to shame. Not only are they packed with super healthy ingredients, they taste GREAT. Five stars.

5. Pro Bar Meal

I stumbled on this when I decided to take only a few minutes for lunch during an extremely busy day. Attracted by “Chocolate & Coconut” written on the package (maybe not the best idea when trying to find a quick bite for lunch!), I quickly grabbed this bar and headed back to the office. To my surprise, not only was it delicious, but I discovered that it’s a filling, plant based, super healthy food choice. It is a mixture of oats, unsweetened chocolate, almonds, flax seed, brown rice, dried pineapple, papaya, coconut AND consists of 8g of protein and 5g of fiber. GENIUS.

6. Total Cluster Fudge: Mounds of Joy

Bad day? The packaging says it all. Some days you really need a hug and this product is bound to provide that warm and fuzzy feeling! I personally think that chocolate and coconut are a match made in heaven, but these also come in red velvet, peanut butter, and more.

7. Talenti Gelato – Caramel Cookie Crunch

Talenti knocks it out the park. Every. Single. Time. I wouldn’t be surprised if I caught you eating this entire pint of smooth gelato goodness in one sitting. This one is the perfect blend of cookie and caramel, also highly recommended for life’s little meltdowns. Also available in several different flavors!
